- One idea per sentence
- Marks grouped clearly if multiple blanks belong to one question

- Vocabulary revision
- Definitions with one missing term
- Maths facts and number names

A good section layout
- Q1 Fill in the blanks — 5 × 1 = 5 marks
- List the sentences vertically
- Keep punctuation outside the blank
- Do not place two long blanks on one line unless space allows
Common mistakes
- Blanks too short
- Too many blanks in one sentence
- No spacing between items
- Mixing fill-in-the-blanks with unrelated instruction styles in the same block
